Urban Cottage Renovation and Addition

Our client loves the convenience and walkability of their 900-square-foot cottage that is within walking distance of downtown Raleigh, but it badly needed updating, inside and out. They also wanted a bit more space to spread out. Deciding to keep the simple look and feel of the brick exterior, they opted to limewash the red brick color, re-surface the front porch with a beautiful porcelain tile that emulates slate, and construct a new walkway, retaining wall, and fence. They also wanted a simple, more contemporary addition to double the home’s size.

The architectural design calls for a two-story addition that integrates seamlessly with the existing home. The addition will include a new, large kitchen with eating space, dining room, living space, powder room, and additional storage space.  An open, spacious primary suite and artist’s studio on the second floor will complete the transformation.
